145th Battle of Cedar Creek - Part I

In October, 2009, men and women of the 3rd Maine and 2nd Vermont joined together on the Cedar Creek Battlefield to participate in the commemoration of the anniversary of the events that occurred on that exact site 145 years before. Our amalgamated company, reinforced by three men from the 143rd New York, served as the color guard company for the 2nd Regiment, United States Volunteers, which portrayed the 2nd Vermont Volunteer Infantry in the event. We were honored to carry the 2nd Vermont's colors once again across that sacred piece of Shenandoah Valley ground.
